The best pork scratchings

Seriously, with Mr. Trotters, there is no room for crisps. Forget the ones from the butchers; these are in another league entirely. I wish I had bought a few more packs. My next trip to Waitrose will see that I do. The best Pork Scratchings, the best snack of its kind. Serious porky bacon flavour hit.

Go seek them out

P.S. Tom Parker Bowles is taking the picture of Mathew and myself. With legends like that involved you have to seek this tasty treat out.

The best meal I have ever been served, no question about that. Clare Smyth is Amazing!

JeanClaude Breton is the perfect host, seriously adding to the occasion

Sautéed foie gras with roasted veal sweetbreads, Cabernet Sauvignon vinegar and almond velouté.

Roasted fillet of Cornish turbot, new season asparagus, peas, broad beans, morels and Iberico ham.

Smoked chocolate cigar with blood orange and cardamom ice cream.

The Amuse Bouche  was the lightest hit of summer. Pea mousse on ricotta, pea shoots and more.

At the end I had a surprise of strawberry ice cream incased in white chocolate. Along with  two other yumies; rose water jelly and  a heavenly chocolate.

When I thought it could not get any better I was invited into the kitchen to meet the team. Meeting  someone as talented as Clare does not happen often. A great Honour.

Thanks again to all of Gordon’s Team. All staff were welcoming and professional beyond belief.

Delicious surprise at the end of the meal.

3 Michelin Stars,Clare Smyth!

I love real Semmelknödel

Back in the U.K. First of several blogs Fraunhofer

If it is real deal Bavaria you want at a reasonable price, this where you go. It’s not a Michelin restaurant; it is a Bavarian beer hall.  An old place with lots of history. The food is good, we go back there, so do many others. That explains why it has survived so long. A measure of real success. A bit like the Ivy in London.

Our starter of white asparagus soup was full of flavour. We have the best green asparagus in the world in the U.K. But Bavaria has the best white asparagus. Local fish of Bavaria was cooked well. My Schweinsbraten was also well cooked tender and with flavour. The home made Kraut is a big hit. The Semmelknödel is also real deal, also amazing. Kaiserschmarrn with apple sauce is a must, my partners favourite. It goes without saying the beer is like most beer in Bavaria local and excellent.

The owners are nice with great humour, do try and speak some German.  Sometimes it is busy, very busy.  Check if it is a public holiday perhaps? It is a pretty good size place. We go when it is not so busy. Fraunhoferstraße is a cool area of Munich. I recommend a walk by the River after the meal. The local council have done a great job making this really nice.

A must!

Where have you been?

Ah yes, back in Bavaria again, lots to blog about. Last time I downloaded photos in a German Internet cafe, I lost them all. So back to the UK before I put some photos up.

London was a stop over , so some nice things from there. Give it a few weeks, before I get back to Blighty! Even my
