After heading of in the wrong direction more than once, we finally found St John’s Bakery. It was well worth the effort. We also found ourselves in part of the happy and vibrant Saturday morning producers “open door” market that now exists across Maltby and Druid streets.
We tried all three flavours. Lemon curd, vanilla and jam. We took them round the corner, to Maltby Street, to a patisserie of sorts, that sold Monmouth coffee. It took over 20 minutes to get the coffee, now I know why French lunch breaks are three hours long. The patisseries looked nice, we had our doughnuts and Monmouth coffee we were happy. Lemon curd was the best zingy cream to die for.
