Weaver Fish/Weever

It is difficult not to be scared of this one. I have (thankfully) yet to stand on one. I have seen many who have. A good sting to the foot and some more.
Until Friday I had never eaten one. My fishmonger, who is always right, said it was a nice fish to eat. As always, he was right. At an amazing £3 for the fish making two fillets, this was a fantastic buy. The best fishmongers in Devon (awarded by Devon Life), it’s not hard to see why.
I was also shown where the spines were, they are carefully hidden. Watch out if you catch one !
It is a great fish to cook with. I used flour egg breadcrumb to coat it. After frying it to colour, I finished it off in a hot oven. Perfection. Chips and mushy peas as an accompaniment.
I am defiantly buying this fish again.

Weaver Fish / Weever superb to cook with great taste.
